The Lilith House
Tucked into the heart of the Lincoln neighborhood in Vancouver, Washington, the Lilith House began its life as an old, worn out garage. It had good bones but no purpose left to serve. That changed when Kieffer Projects took on the job of turning it into something entirely new: a custom built accessory dwelling unit designed as a place of healing and mental restoration.
The mission behind the Lilith House shaped every decision in the build. This wasn’t a standard garage conversion meant to add square footage or resale value. It was built to hold space for people working through some of the hardest parts of their lives, so the design had to feel calm, safe, and intentional from the moment someone walked through the door.
Getting there meant solving real challenges. The original structure needed a complete refresh inside and out. Custom finishes had to reflect the warmth and quiet the business was built around, not just a fresh coat of paint. And like many ADU conversions in Vancouver, the project came with its share of permitting hurdles that had to be worked through carefully with the city before construction could move forward.
Kieffer Projects is proud to call the Lilith House one of the first fully custom homes we built, and it remains one of the clearest examples of what thoughtful design and skilled construction can do for a business and the people it serves.
Our first challenge was developing a design that transformed the existing garage into a space that felt healing, functional, and genuinely inviting.
Our design team built custom plans from the ground up, working closely with the client to translate their vision for the space into a real, buildable layout.
The structure called for custom metal work, which meant specialized fabrication and precise ordering to get every detail right.
